ASME Silver State is excited to announce a meeting on November 16, 2010 which will feature Luis Martinez as the guest speaker. He is an author, career coach and management consultant. Luis was employed in top level positions in multinational manufacturing, healthcare and
business consulting. In Xerox, Luis directed a global human resources team for Worldwide Manufacturing with facilities in the U.S., Latin America, Europe and Asia. Additional background on Luis is below.
Many of our ASME members belong to companies that conduct business globally, whether providing either goods or services. Luis’ speech topic will focus on globalization and be based around the book The World Is Flat: A Brief History of the Twenty-First Century, by Tom Friedman. Friedman advocates that the world is quickly becoming a level playing field (flat), primarily in terms of commerce, where all competitors have an equal opportunity. Luis’ presentation will discuss the implications for business and human resources. How do we prepare for these changes? What can / should we do as nations, companies, communities and individuals to remain competitive in a global market? The discussion will be interactive, encouraging give and take with the audience.
Luis Martinez has been successfully coaching and advising employees, peers and executives since 1983. In 2008 Luis formed a strategic management consulting firm, Gran Altura, Inc. The design of this client-focused firm allows Luis to effectively serve the many individuals and businesses that benefit from his skills, insight and experience. As Managing Principal, Luis offers his valuable services and talents to organizations in transition as well as to individuals who want to achieve higher levels of performance.
His comprehensive career development book, Getting There, published by a division of Random House is receiving high reviews in Amazon.com. Cut/paste this link to see Luis (clicking directly will not work):http://www.tedxrochester.org/txr-2009/photos/luis-martinez-on-what-drives-us/
